My son wants to get turtles for pets/ Where can I find decently priced supplies?

What is the best turtle for a 7 year old? He wants to get 2 of them. we have limited space and would like this to be affordable. What is the best place to get turtle supplies? All suggestions appreciated.

Honestly, I don’t think turtles make very good pets for young children, but if he is really bent on getting them make sure you do your research! The cost of keeping them can become quite pricey, and they are not a pet to be handled or played with. Mud turtles do indeed stay fairly small, as do painted turtles and male map turtles. Two of them will require, obviously, twice as much space though and they don’t always get along, so I would really stick to getting just one for now.
