Virtual pets are perennial favorites during holiday gift season. Children love receiving an animal they can play with, love and take care of. Parents love the fact that these virtual pets do not have to be fed, taken out walks, or cleaned up on a regular basis. The popular pets this year are the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters. In fact, these are poised to be the biggest toys of the 2009 holiday season.
These toys are similar to real hamsters and that they squeak, play, and move around. In fact, they’re very similar to real hamsters except for the smell and the cleanup duties. They have two modes, a mode called nurturing where the happy hamsters purr, and a mode where the hamsters explore the environment and react to stimuli, called the adventure mode.

Another reason these toys will be popular is the fact that the hamsters are relatively inexpensive, for intereractive toys. The basic hamster can retail for as little as $10, and the accessories are slightly more. With economic frugality still the watchword, these Zhu Zhu pet hamsters are a popular choice.
While finding these hamsters are hit and miss at traditional stores, and may continue to be hard to find as the holiday season gets closer. they are also available at online venues such as Amazon and Ebay. If you are interested in snatching a Zhu Zhu pet hamster up for the holiday season, earlier is better.
