Iguana Food

My 3 year old green iguana keeps eating my kitten’s dry food. Is that bad for my iguana?
i heard some ppl say that cat dry food is good for iguanas so i don’t know.
It is bad for him. Cats and Kittens are mainly carnivores, so any cat or kitten food is going to have animal based protiens in them. Iguanas are strict herbivores. Animal based protiens will cause kidney failure later in life. Please don’t let your iggy eat the kitten food.
Keep him on collard greens, turnip greens, squashes zuchinni, bell peppers, parsley, cilantro, etc. Only veggies, dark leafy greens, and occasional fruit.
It used to be thought that you can feed your iggy dry cat or dog food, and they will be fine. The animal based protiens cause them to grow quickly, but the iggies do not live a full life. They end up getting sick after a few years on this diet, and passing away because of failure in their kidneys and livers. It is a common misconception.
Good Luck with him!
