Innova Dog Food
Any opinions on Innova dog food?
My mom feeds her 2 year old Innova and I have heard it is a very good dog food because of the no by products and it is only sold at a specialty store here, not even Petco or Petsmart, my question is does anyone know specifics about it and is it okay to feed it to my five month old pup who gets diarrhea from Iams? Thanks
Finally! I believe that Innova is by far the Healthiest pet food on the market right now because I have yet to find ANYTHING that compares both ingredient-wise as well as the quality of maufacturing. I am a pet nutrition consultant and have reviewed the majority of foods on the market – if nothing else for their ingredients. Iams is in no way comparible to the quality that is found in Innova. Iams, unfortunately uses by-products and numerous cheap, non-digestible fillers.
Dogs get diarrhea for a number of reasons. For puppies, most common is parisites or illness. If you have been to a vet and ruled that out and are certain that it is the food – then it could be a couple of things also. Dogs that are overfed, will often get diarrhea because their digestive systems can not tolerate the food. This symptom does appear in some dogs fed Innova because owners do not realize that they don’t have to feed as much so again, they overfeed and the dog gets diarrhea. the simple solution to that is reducing the amoung of food.
Another reason why food might cause diarrhea is because of the low quality of some of the ingredients. Most dog foods have a significant portion of fillers which the body can’t digest so it basically goes in one end and out the other. Innova is great because all of its ingredients are highly digestible so dogs will even “poo” less.
So, if your dog is healthy other then the diarrhea, make sure you are giving him water so that he doesn’t get dehydrated and switch to Innova gradually, making sure not to overfeed.
