how good is nutro dog food for a 6 month old pitbull?

i know a vet who feeds his dog nutro dog food, he recommended it to me, i trust to believe its good dog food since he is a vet and he uses it on his dog also. any opinons?

My advice is to find a better food. They are not the worst but they are a low grade food. Look at their ingredients:

1.) Chicken Meal – Good source of protein
2.) Corn Gluten Meal – Worthless Filler
3.) Wheat Flour – Worthless Filler
4.) Rice Bran – Worthless Filler
5.) Ground Rice – Worthless Filler
6.) Poultry Fat – Worthless Filler
7.) Dried Plain Beet Pulp – Worthless Filler
8.) Ground Whole Wheat – Worthless Filler
9.) Chicken – Good source of protein
10.) Natural Flavor – At least it’s natural flavor.

The majority of the ingredients are fillers that have little to no nutritional value so I would go with a better food that doesn’t have fillers like Horizon Legacy Puppy, Orijen Puppy, Artemis Fresh Mix Puppy, Canidae All Life Stages, Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover’s Soul, Fromm Four Star Chicken, Duck and Sweet Potato, Salmon or Whitefish All Life Stages, Innova Puppy or Merrick Puppy.

Ingredients in Orijen Puppy:

1.) Fresh Deboned Chicken
2.) Chicken Meal
3.) Turkey Meal
4.) Russett Potato
5.) Fresh Deboned Salmon
6.) Herring Meal
7.) Sweet Potato
8.) Peas
9.) Deboned Lake Whitefish
10.) Salmon Meal
11.) Fresh Deboned Walleye
12.) Chicken Liver
13.) Fresh Deboned Turkey
14.) Fresh Whole Eggs
15.) Fresh Deboned Herring

WOW! If I could eat all those things every day, I would be one happy person. Imagine how happy your dog will be.

The only other thing I would like to say is NEVER TAKE YOUR VETS ADVICE ON FOOD! Vets don’t study nutrition in school. The only information they get about dog food comes from the companies that sells the products to them. Also, Vets make an incentive for each bag of dog food they sell you.
