Pet Milk Recipes
All you old fashioned cooks out there, I need help with a really OLD recipe.?
An old cookbook has come up missing and the recipes were from the 40′s and a handwritten recipe in it was my great grandmother’s chocolate cake. This was no ordinary cake. I was so little when I had it last but I remember her using the following ingredients: Hershey’s Cocoa Powder, Sanka Coffee, Raisins ..of course sugar, flour, eggs but I can not remember what she used for fat. The icing/frosting was made with Pet Condensed Milk, butter and I think vanilla. The cake was left in the pan and the frosting was poured over the top. I want to say it was similar to a German Chocolate cake frosting without the coconut and nuts..but not quite.
Have any of you had anything like that or have a recipe like this? I am a lil homesick for comfort food.
